Why the use of LED now?

The electricity used over the lifetime of a single incandescent bulb costs 5 to 10 times the original purchase price of the bulb itself. A significant feature of LEDs is that the light is directional, as opposed to incandescent bulbs which spread the light more spherically. Long-lasting - LED bulbs last up to 10 times as long as compact fluorescents, and far longer than typical incandescent. LEDs are durable, more efficient; it uses only 2-17 watts of electricity. LEDs are Mercury-free, cost-effective  and Light for remote areas and portable generators
